Wike Vows to Make FCT Residents Witness Tinubu’s Good Works Daily

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to ensure that residents of the capital city witness the good works of President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly daily.

He made the pledge during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network.

Speaking at the event, Wike appreciated President Tinubu’s support towards infrastructural development in the FCT.

Wike recalled the President’s directive to prioritize the completion of the Greater Abuja Water Supply project, among others, upon assuming office.

The minister explained that the project, which was awarded in 2017 for $470 million under the Partnership for African Development Initiative, was 85 percent funded by the Chinese government, with the remaining 15 percent provided by the Federal Government and the FCT Administration for Loops 1, 2, 5, and 6.

“We want to sincerely thank you (President Tinubu) that under this administration, this job has been completed and today you are commissioning the Greater Abuja Water supply network,” Wike stated.

The minister added that procurement is underway for a new agreement with the Chinese company CGC to extend water supply to satellite towns such as Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.

He said: “You said you want the train to work, and you want water to be supplied to the city. These contracts were awarded in 2017. We want to sincerely thank you that under this administration, these jobs have been completed.

“Last year when you visited China, luckily for us, I was part of the delegation that went with you. There, FCT also signed an agreement with CGC to provide water in the rural areas.

“I want to say today that we have almost completed the procurement process to give water to Bwari, Kubwa, Karu, and some of the communities. They are not only providing water to the city but they are also providing water to the satellite towns. I want to assure you that these projects will be completed on time. We believe that during your third anniversary, we will commission those of the satellite towns.

“I also thank the National Assembly for the support they have been giving to us, it’s been very impressive and encouraging. We will make sure that people see what you are doing in FCT, and for those who don’t want to see, it’s not your fault.”
