What We Learned About Politics Is Different From Nigeria’s Reality’ — Don

Professor of Political ScienceJibrin Ibrahim, has lamented that current Nigerian politics is different from what was taught in the classroom.

Prof Ibrahim said this on Tuesday while fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’.

He also stated that political parties had become vehicles for delivering power to individuals.

According to him: “As someone who studied political science, it is deeply depressing to see politics now operating on a completely different set of principles not found in the literature we were taught.

“We grew up believing that democracy followed certain rules and standards, only to discover that much of what happens in reality has little connection to the theories and ideals we studied.
My own personal tragedy is that I read political science that’s fairly classic, and we just assumed that, if you are talking of democratic politics, these are the rules.”
