Water for All :Enugu State Mandates House-to-House Water Connection,Launches Last-Mile Project

 

“The government of Enugu state has announced a mandatory house to house water connection in the state, this was contained in a public service announcement signed by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia,
Secretary to the Government of Enugu State on Friday May 16, 2025, and it states……..

 

The Enugu State Government, through the Enugu State Water Corporation, is implementing the *Water Last-Mile Connection Project* to ensure that all households across the city are connected to the public water supply network.

As part of this statewide initiative,  all landlords, caretakers, and tenants in Enugu are hereby directed* to grant unhindered access  to officials and accredited agents of the Water Corporation for the purpose of connecting their properties to the water infrastructure.

In addition,  residents who have constructed buildings or structures on water utility lines or public right-of-way* are *reminded that such developments are illegal.* These individuals are also required to grant *full and undisrupted access* to Water Corporation teams. *Any obstruction of utility corridors will be treated as a serious violation of state laws* and subject to enforcement actions.

This initiative is a key part of the government’s effort to deliver safe, clean, and reliable water to every home, while also restoring and protecting public infrastructure for the benefit of all.

*Non-compliance with this directive will attract appropriate sanctions as stipulated by law.*

We call on all residents to cooperate fully to ensure the success of this critical exercise.”
