Washington-bound United Airlines flight returns to Lagos following medical emergency

A United Airlines flight from Lagos to Washington D.C. was forced to return shortly after takeoff on Tuesday morning due to a medical emergency involving a passenger.

 

 

 

Flight UA613 departed Lagos at around 12:10 a.m., but approximately an hour and 30 minutes into the journey, the captain made an announcement seeking any medical personnel on board to assist the affected passenger.

 

 

 

 

“Shortly after, the captain announced that the flight would have to return to Lagos as protection of lives was their priority,” the airline confirmed.

 

 

 

 

The aircraft touched back down at Lagos around 2:26 a.m., where medical personnel were immediately dispatched to attend to the passenger, who was then deboarded for further treatment.

 

 

 

About an hour later, the flight was officially cancelled. Passengers were deboarded and arrangements were being made to accommodate them in a hotel as of press time.
