A photo of Pastor Jamal Bryant and his wife, Karri, from a recent high-profile charity event has stirred widespread debate online and within church circles.
The controversy began after Karri was photographed wearing a flesh-toned dress with black lace details at the UNCF Atlanta Mayor’s Masked Ball. While some critics claimed the outfit appeared see-through and questioned its appropriateness for a pastor’s wife, others defended her right to dress as she pleased.
Addressing the backlash from the pulpit, Pastor Jamal Bryant firmly defended his wife, insisting the dress was not transparent but flesh-coloured. He dismissed critics as “insecure, jealous, and petty,” adding that they ignored the more important outcome of the event — the millions raised to support Black students and HBCUs. Bryant also made it clear that he personally bought the dress and fully supported his wife wearing it.
