Uzodinma govt meets Police chief, Kyari-led IGP squad over Imo insecurity

The Hope Uzodimma led Imo government has conferred with the police on the security situation in the state.

Eric Uwakwe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, met with Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, and Abba Kyari, Head of the IGP Squad in Imo.

Uwakwe praised the resilience and response of the police to the challenges and called for synergy between the security agency and the youths.

The aide condemned the burning police stations and government parastatals and reiterated the government’s commitment to partner with the Force in carrying out their obligations.

A youth leader, Pope Ekwegh urged the CP to set up a “Youth-Police Joint Committee” to foster a better relationship.

Also speaking, Okereke Godson urged the police community to cut down on mass arrests and release innocent persons in custody.

In his remarks, Yaro hailed the delegation for seeking ways to curb insecurity in Imo.

He said political pressure, agitations, migration of violent criminals from the Niger Delta were major causes of insecurity in the state.

The CP disclosed that the command will recruit locals into relevant units for improved community policing.
