UK to partner Nasarawa govt on agriculture, education

The British government has expressed its readiness to partner the Nasarawa State government in the areas of Agriculture and Education in a bid to better the lives of residents of the state.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing made the disclosure while speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Lafia.

Laing who is on a two-day working visit to Nasarawa State, explained that the British government came up with the decision to partner Nasarawa because the state possesses many potentials which, if put into use, will better the lives of its citizens.

She said, “Because of the rich mineral potentials in Nasarawa State, the British government will partner the state to develop several sectors in order to improve the living conditions of people of the state”.

Laing lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for the ongoing construction of a bus terminus in Karu and Keffi local government areas of the state which according to her, would ease gridlock on the Keffi-Karu Highway when completed.

Responding, Governor Abdullahi Sule said that Nasarawa State was committed to transforming the economy of the state by creating wealth and jobs for the people.

He expressed gratitude to the UK government for deciding to partner with the state on Agriculture and Education, assuring that Nasarawa State would do everything possible to ensure that the partnership was successful.
