The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Anambra State governorship election, Senator Andy Uba, on Thursday landed his private jet at the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umuleri.

It was the first time that the lawmaker was using the airport after its inauguration.

Meanwhile, Uba has hailed Governor Willie Obiano for providing the state with a functional airport.

Uba also stressed that everyone must be committed to the development of Anambra State, irrespective of differences in political party affiliation.

The senator, who made the remarks shortly after landing at the airport on Thursday, acknowledged that the facility had added to the advancement of the state’s infrastructural development quest.

According to a statement by his media aide, Mr Ikechukwu Onyia, Uba reiterated the need for all Anambra people to always place the development of the state above political interests.

He also attended APC stakeholders meeting where he commended the Chief Basil Ejidike-led APC caretaker committee for its commitment at uniting the party.

He said, “The airport is here with us and I like what I witnessed today. It is an additional infrastructure for the state and as a believer in the development of integrated transportation infrastructure which necessitated my bills on railway development, harbour/maritime transportation, road infrastructure development, infrastructure funding.

“I welcome this airport while looking forward to the next phase of development which we should target to interconnect all other transport infrastructure to the airport as a strategy to improve ease-of-doing-business in the state.”
