TWO DIES AS CONTAINER LADDEN TRUCK FALLS ON BUS IN LAGOS

Two yet-to-be-identified persons lost their lives on Sunday when a container-laden truck fell on a commercial bus in the Ilasamaja area of Mile 2, Lagos State.

We gathered that the driver of the truck was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the commercial bus around a bridge in Ilasamaja.

Some of the passengers on the bus were reportedly disembarking when tragedy struck.

Due to the impact of the collision, the container reportedly fell on the bus and killed two passengers. Three others, including the bus driver, were injured.

Three other passengers were reportedly rescued unhurt by emergency responders, who visited the scene of the incident.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the injured victims were taken to hospital for treatment, adding that two persons died.

He said, “Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a truck, with the number plate, SGM 715 XA, loaded with a 20ft container, ram into a commercial bus stationed at the Ilasa under bridge, which was discharging some of its passengers.

“The impact of the fallen container led to the immediate death of two passengers, one male and one female. Three other passengers, including the bus driver, were rescued with injuries and have been transferred to the Isolo General Hospital. Three passengers escaped unhurt.”  ,,
