Two Cyprus Police Officers Suspended After Being Caught Having Sex in Patrol Car

Two police officers in Cyprus have been suspended after a video surfaced showing them engaging in sexual activity inside a patrol car in broad daylight.

The incident occurred in an open field in Larnaca, southeastern Cyprus, where a passerby spotted the male and female officers and captured the moment on video. The footage quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage and ridicule.

The officers, who were swiftly identified, are now facing both criminal and disciplinary investigations. Local media reports indicate that one of them was on active duty at the time of the incident, while the other was off-duty.

Potential charges may include public indecency and neglect of duty, according to Cyprus Mail.

“This kind of behavior is unacceptable and undermines the efforts of thousands of dedicated officers,” a police spokesperson said. However, the Cyprus Police Association urged the public to respect the personal privacy of the officers, especially to protect their families and any minor children involved.

Irini Loïzidou Nicolaidou, Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, emphasized the need to balance public interest with the privacy rights of those involved.

The scandal comes just months after reports in the UK revealed that over 25 officers had been sacked or disciplined for engaging in sexual acts while on duty in the past two years.
