On Tuesday morning, June 24, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a defiant message to congressional Democrats, daring them to attempt a third impeachment following his recent military actions in Iran.
“So go ahead and try impeaching me again — MAKE MY DAY!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, referencing the famous Clint Eastwood line from Dirty Harry as he aimed his criticism at progressive lawmakers.
Trump’s sharpest criticism was directed at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who had recently called for his impeachment in response to U.S. airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. Trump dismissed her comments, calling her “one of the dumbest people in Congress” and accusing Democrats of being “allergic to success.”
“She can’t stand the idea of America being successful again,” he added.
He didn’t stop with Ocasio-Cortez. Trump also took aim at Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), calling her “a seriously Low IQ individual,” and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), saying she “does nothing but complain about our country,” while disparaging her Somali origins by referring to Somalia as “one of the WORST countries in the world, if it’s even rated at all.”
Ocasio-Cortez had earlier criticized Trump’s airstrikes as “a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.” Trump mockingly nicknamed her “The Mouse” and suggested she should take the same cognitive test he says he “aced” at Walter Reed Medical Center.
He also weighed in on speculation that Ocasio-Cortez might challenge Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) in a future primary. “She better worry about her own primary before trying to unseat our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer — whose career is on thin ice!” he warned.
Trump’s remarks came on the same day that a cease-fire between Israel and Iran, which he had previously helped negotiate, officially went into effect.
