Tragedy struck on Friday after a truck crushed a student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Florence Kalu.

Kalu, a 300-level student of Microbiology, hailed from Abia State.

She was reportedly crushed to death alongside the motorcycle rider conveying her to her hostel.

The incident, which happened at the Maternity Junction around the main gate of the institution, caused gridlock in the area.

A student, Dennis Ibe, who witnessed the incident, said, “The incident was unfortunate. Her course mates at the department of Microbiology are in shock.”
