Trailer, shop set ablaze in Enugu FOR VIOLATING SIT-AT-HOME ORDER

On thursday the 21st of October, a sit-at-home order was declared in all parts of South East by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), following the court appearance of Nnamdi Kanu.

Following this order, a trailer carrying container was set ablaze at Eke-Obinagu suburb along Enugu – Abakaliki Expressway in Enugu East Council Area of the state and a provision shop have been burnt by hoodlums allegedly enforcing the sit-at-home order for violating it.

It was gathered that the truck which was said to be heading to Abakaliki was attacked and set ablaze around 3: 30am. However, the drive was said to have also escaped unhurt. Also, a shop at Eke Obinagu, said to be stocked with provisions was burnt down to ashes while the truck said to belong to CHISCO Company was burnt to the engine.

It was observed that over 10 security operatives led by the police had been stationed in the scene to ensure that the goods in the container weren’t looted.

While roads and streets in the state were deserted as residents observed the sit-at-home order, UGAMATV monitored the compliance in the state reports that both business and social activities were grounded as only few people were seen trekking on the roads. Shops, malls, petrol stations, banks and markets were shut down.

The police public relations officer in Enugu State, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack, saying that the command has commenced investigation.

“Investigation has commenced to unravel the misery behind the burning of the head part of a Mack truck, found to be conveying some quantity of diesel concealed in a container, and a nearby kiosk said to be used for hanging out, along Enugu/Abakaliki Road, Eke-Obinagu Emene, Enugu, in the early morning hours of today.

“Further development will be communicated, please,” he told our correspondent who reached out to him for comment.
