‘Too soon to give up’, says Trump despite Biden’s electoral college victory

President Donald Trump has cautioned the Republican Party against giving up on the victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 US Presidential Election.

He said this barely 24 hours after Electoral College confirmed Biden as the winner of the election.

After the Electoral College declaration, top Republicans and foreign leaders congratulated Biden.

But Trump has refused to concede defeat, saying that it is too soon to do so.

He made this known in a tweet reacting to top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell message that “it’s over”.

“The Electoral College has spoken. So, today I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Trump, who continued his allegations of mass fraud despite their rejection by courts, asked the Republican Party to fight on.

“Too soon to give up. Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!” he tweeted.

In subsequent tweets, Trump said, “Poll: 92% of Republican Voters think the election was rigged!”

Among the world leaders that has recently acknowledged Biden’s win is Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said he was “ready for collaboration” with the Democrat.

Others are Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Mexico’s Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador..
