Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid Under Threat: Ohanaeze Youth Wing Sounds Alarm on Hunger, Poverty, and Insecurity

Youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the hunger, poverty, and insecurity ravaging the country before talking about 2027 politics. According to the organisation, the President’s inability to address the challenges facing the nation may cost him his re-election come 2027. It made the assertion in a press statement signed by its Youth Leader, Damian Okafor. In the press statement, the group stated that as a concerned group that means well for the progress of the nation, it found it an obligation to deliver an imperative message to President Tinubu regarding the current State.

“The All Progressives Congress, APC, is precariously positioned as it approaches the 2027 elections. “If the Federal Government continues to dismiss the alarming warnings concerning extreme poverty, pervasive hardships, and escalating insecurity, the consequences will be dire.

“Mr President, it is critical to acknowledge that Nigerians are enduring overwhelming suffering. “If their grievances remain unaddressed, a revolt against your administration through the ballot box is not merely a possibility; it is an impending reality. The Federal Government must confront the harsh truths surrounding worsening insecurity, relentless hunger, and extreme poverty that have now reached intolerable levels.

” the release hinted. The group maintained that the devastating effects of hunger, insecurity, and poverty had reached a point where the second term bid of President Tinubu could be truncated. The Ohaneze Youth wing further noted that most of the Governors whom Mr president relies on so much for his re-election have lost their people’s trust for offering nothing but false and empty promises.

Okafor was of the view that the 2027 general elections will be quite different from previous elections, where it will be difficult for the APC Governors to deliver their States to Mr president. It, however, asserted that President Tinubu has a unique opportunity to redeem his administration before it is too late. Okafor added that the current situation requires revolutionary policies that will directly address the urgent needs of the Nigerian populace. He pointed out that the situation will be more unbearable if citizens keep on relying solely on the assurances of the Governors. “Moreover, it is paramount for you to engage directly with the suffering masses, the impoverished Nigerians who are most affected by the current political and economic malaise.

“The time has come to distance yourself from the Governors who contribute to the country’s economic woes and security challenges. “The Federal Government must accept the reality: the benefits of the fuel subsidy removal, which led to increased Federal allocations to the States, have yet to translate into relief for the average Nigerian,” he stated.

The Ohaneze Youth leader, remarked that the Supreme Court’s recent ruling favouring LGAs autonomy is designed to alleviate the burdens on ordinary citizens but regretted that the judgement is being systematically sabotaged by the very Governors whose commitments are in question. He also stated that the recent proposals for new tax reforms will similarly face obstruction unless there is
