Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State has said that President Bola Tinubu cannot personally be in all 36 states combating crime, stressing that state leaders and security agencies serve as the President’s foot soldiers in maintaining peace and security across the country.
Ododo made the remarks during a visit to the newly established 21 Battalion Barracks in Anyigba, Kogi East, where he commended military personnel for their dedication and sacrifices in protecting lives and property.
According to the governor, the deployment of the battalion has significantly improved security in Kogi East, restoring confidence among residents and helping to dismantle criminal hideouts in the area.
“I am here today to appreciate the brave officers who work tirelessly every day to ensure our people sleep peacefully at night,” Ododo said.
“Since your arrival, the security situation in Kogi East has improved tremendously. Areas previously known for criminal activities have been cleared, and we will continue to pursue criminals until they have nowhere left to hide.”
The governor also disclosed that President Tinubu has approved air support for security operations in the state whenever necessary.
“The President cannot be in every state at the same time fighting criminals, so we act as his foot soldiers on the ground,” he said.
“With this air support approval, the chances of criminals surviving or operating freely in Kogi have been greatly reduced.”
Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure lasting peace for residents.
