Tinubu Approves Continuation of Kolmani Oil Project, Orders Issuance of Pending Licenses

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light for the continuation of the Kolmani oil drilling project, which straddles Bauchi and Gombe States.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, made this known in a statement released on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Media, Nneamaka Okafo.

According to the statement, President Tinubu has approved the issuance of all outstanding licenses required to advance the Kolmani project, signaling a renewed commitment to harnessing the region’s hydrocarbon potential.

“The Federal Government has already established an oil and gas research center in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State to support the long-term success and sustainability of the Kolmani project,” the Minister added.

The Kolmani oil drilling initiative was officially launched in November 2022, marking a historic step in the exploration of crude oil in northern Nigeria.
