Three governorship aspirants in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Adamawa State have stepped down for Ahmed Galadima Aminu.
Those who announced their withdrawal include Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu and Alhaji Ibrahim Thul.
The withdrawal comes ahead of Thursday’s APC governorship primaries in Adamawa State.
Announcing his decision to step down for Galadima, Abubakar, Salihu and Thul described their move as necessary for the party’s unity and progress.
The development clears the coast for the likely emergence of Galadinma as the APC governorship flagbearer, following the withdrawal of three aspirants.
In his reaction to the withdrawals, Galadima hailed the move and pledged his commitment to the development of Adamawa State.
UGAMATV reports that the APC governorship primary is set to be held on Thursday, May 21st, 2026.
Recall that incumbent governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri transitioned to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the platform on which he was elected in 2023 for a second term.
