“They said I was beating my pregnant wife” — BBN star Teddy A opens up on false abuse allegations

Reality TV star Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has spoken about the emotional toll of false abuse allegations made against him.

Speaking during a recent interview on the WithChude podcast, Teddy A revealed how a viral report once accused him of physically abusing his wife, actress Bamike “Bambam”.

According to him, the allegation which spread widely on social media — claimed that he beat his wife, even while she was pregnant.

Teddy A said the report caught him completely off guard.

“When they said I was beating my wife, which was a lot. I woke up, went downstairs, my wife was there, she was watching a movie, she was pregnant and laughing,” he said.

He explained that the story sparked massive online reactions and left both him and Bambam shocked and confused about where it came from.

“Then I checked my phone and saw my notifications going off. I was like, I didn’t drop any content that’s trending, what’s going on? What did I do? Or what are they saying now?” he said.

As he scrolled through the comments, he said his wife became emotional and kept asking who could have made up such a story.

“I honestly didn’t know. Maybe it was one ex somewhere or village people trying to come after me,” he added.

Teddy A also recalled that he was initially advised to stay silent and allow the issue to die down.

However, he said that decision later came back to haunt him, as the allegation continues to resurface online and affect public perception of him.

“I didn’t really see the damage staying silent would do to my reputation. Even now, when my wife and I post ourselves, people still comment and ask if I’m sure I don’t beat my wife,” he said.

“Why would they say that? Why on earth would they do that? It affected me because it made people see me in a way that wasn’t true.”
