THE EDUCATION AMBASSADOR CALLED TOBY OKECHUKWU

If there is anyone that took the saying ‘education is the key’ to a different dimension, it would be Hon. Toby Okechukwu. The deputy minority leader didn’t just take it to a different dimension, he took it a thousand step further to not only tell it, but show it to his constituents.

One would say its because he had an educational background having grown up in a home where his father was a school teacher at a time when education was not as trusted as it is today, but anyone who closely watch his works through the years and what he has achieved will know it doesn’t just take family background, but true pureness of heart and love to go the milestones he have gone in the educational sector just for the love of his people.

The lawmaker who is also a member representing Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River federal constituency is truly a celebrity in his place and a household name whom even young children can testify to knowing because he has in several ways touched the lives of every single family in his constituency through his educational empowerment.

Some who may not be familiar with the name may ask, ‘what is so special about him?, is he the only one paying school fees for his constituents?’, and while the answer will always remain no, the dimension to it is that he is the only one in the whole of Enugu state that goes the extra mile to not just pay school fees for students, but makes sure they are comfortable. He doesn’t just make sure they learn comfortably, bearing in mind that his constituency is a rural one, he tries to bring home everything in an urban school down to his people so they don’t act naïve when they go to the bigger city.

It is safe to say that what Hon. Toby Okechukwu for done and is still doing for his constituents, if a quarter of commissioners, governors and representatives both ion the state and federal level are doing it, then Nigeria will be conducive place to live in.

Some may ask, what exactly has this man done that no one else have done, and I will say a whole lot, some of which include paying for WAEC fees of his constituents from 2012 till date. When they say people touch lives this is the true definition of it. Hon. Toby Okechukwu is the reason a lot of families have been able to smile and even testify in church. Since 2012 till date the lawmaker has paid the WAEC fees of over 10,000 students if not more. This is like touching the lives of over 10,000 families at different times. If this is not a reason to sing his praises every time he is seen then I don’t know what is. Anyone who sees it as nothing should try paying for 10 students at once and tell us how it feels. With the way the economy is going he still keeps doing it. this is enough reason to say that he is worthy of emulation.

Hon. Toby Okechukwu is the only politician in the history of Enugu that has been able to train all the teachers in his constituency for 7 straight days while still catering for them and making sure they are comfortable. After all the training he still gave them and also gave each schools mobile science kits at different occasions.

This great man has managed to rebuild and renovate several schools, some of which includes St, Vincent Agwogugu, central school agwunta, central school nkwe, uhugo technical school ndeabor, community primary school azunkwo ndeabor, community secondary school ogbaku, technical college amoli, central school mgbidi, obeagu community primary school uhueze nenwe and a lot more.

In his bid to ensure his students are comfortable, he has constructed and distributed over 2000 seats and tables for students, including providing white boards, exercise books, markers, and past question papers for all the schools in his constituency.

So when someone asks who is Hon. Toby Okechuwkwu and why he is always on the lips of everyone, we tell the person to go to Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River and see the reason why.
