Terrorists now use Keke to deliver bombs – Ndume

Borno South senator, Ali Ndume, has revealed that terrorists and bandits in Nigeria are now employing newer tactics , and are becoming more organized and dangerous.

Ndume made the remarks while speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He detailed how criminal groups now rely heavily on local informants and unconventional delivery methods to carry out attacks.

According to the lawmaker, insurgents often operate through “hit-and-run” tactics, gathering intelligence and coordinating movements within communities before striking.

He said: “What they do is hit and run. They gather around, pass information among themselves, and most dangerously, they get information from some citizens too. They have informants within the society.”

Ndume further disclosed that recent attacks have involved the use of commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, to transport explosive devices to targeted locations.

“You can imagine, even the bomb that exploded, it was delivered by Keke Napep. They package it and give it to people in Keke Napep to deliver at specific spots,” he said.

Ndume said he understands the operational pattern of these groups, noting that they constantly seek ways to infiltrate communities and execute attacks before escaping.

“I understand their mode of operation moving around, trying to find a way in to carry out their activities and escape.”

The senator, however, blamed the worsening security situation on inadequate intelligence gathering, stressing that authorities must strengthen surveillance and information networks.

He also expressed concern over the boldness of terrorists, revealing that some now record and share their activities openly on social media platforms

“You can imagine bandits and terrorists in Nigeria having the audacity to record their atrocities on TikTok and send it out to people.”
