Growing anxiety continues to grip Anambra State as the whereabouts of billionaire real estate mogul, Benjamin Ezemma, popularly known as Big Ben, remain unknown eight months after his mysterious disappearance.
Ezemma, the Chairman/CEO of GSS Real Estate and Investment Limited, owners of Dubai Estate, Awka, was last seen on November 12, 2024, after allegedly receiving an invitation to a hotel in Awka from a prominent individual. Since then, efforts to locate him have proved futile.
His wife, Mrs. Benedicta Ezemma, has now made a renewed public appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urging them to prevail on federal security agencies to step in and unravel the circumstances surrounding her husband’s disappearance.
Despite submitting multiple petitions to Anambra State security operatives, Mrs. Ezemma says there has been no tangible progress in the investigation. According to her, their three children, all under five, frequently ask about their father, leaving her devastated and helpless.
In a fresh move, she has formally petitioned the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), seeking immediate federal intervention. A copy of her petition, made available to The Nation, details her heartbreak and frustration.
“I am writing this letter and making a passionate appeal for your kind intervention regarding the abduction of my dear husband and father of our three innocent children,” she wrote.
“My husband is a businessman based in Abuja who frequents Awka for business concerns. His sudden disappearance has left our family broken.”
Most notably, Mrs. Ezemma pointed fingers at a prominent political figure, who she alleges is linked to the disappearance. Shockingly, the said individual is currently a governorship candidate in the upcoming November 8, 2025, Anambra election.
“It would be unfair and a great injustice to me, my children, and the entire country if this person is allowed to contest without being thoroughly investigated,” she stated.
She emphasized that despite this serious allegation, the individual continues to campaign freely, unbothered by law enforcement.
“We have reported the matter to the DSS in Anambra, but the command’s efforts are clearly limited by resources. I am now appealing directly to the federal authorities to reinvigorate efforts and help bring my husband home.”
“My children keep asking me when their father will return from work. I have no answers. Please help me,” she wrote emotionally.
The continued silence over Big Ben’s disappearance has sparked concerns among residents, supporters, and civil society groups, who fear the incident may signal a rise in politically motivated violence ahead of the crucial governorship polls.
Public calls for justice are mounting, as pressure increases on both state and federal authorities to act swiftly, transparently, and decisively to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to book.
