Suspended Kogi Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to Resume Senate Duties July 8

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has announced that she will return to her legislative duties at the National Assembly on Tuesday, July 8.

The embattled senator made this known while addressing jubilant members of her constituency who gathered to celebrate a recent court ruling in her favor.

“I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God,” she said.

This announcement comes just days after Justice Anita Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja imposed a ₦5 million fine on Akpoti-Uduaghan for contempt of court. The ruling was related to a Facebook post the court deemed to have violated a previous order.

Despite the penalty, the court also ruled in her favor by nullifying her six-month suspension from the Senate. The judge described the suspension as excessive, unconstitutional, and a violation of the rights of her constituents to representation.
