Suspected Terrorists Kidnap Zamfara Finance Director’s Wife, Two Children

The Director of Finance in the Zamfara State Ministry of Finance, Sirajo Hassan’s wife and two children have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be terrorists at Damba Housing Estate, Gusau, the state capital.

It was learnt that the terrorists entered the director’s house around 1 am on Monday in an attempt to kidnap him but he was not at home.

The gunmen were said to have kidnapped his wife, Maryam Gambo and her two little children when they realised that the director was not in the house, Leadership reports.

Some vigilantes reportedly engaged the terrorists in a gun battle to stop the abduction but they were overpowered by the terrorists.

Two of the vigilantes reportedly sustained injuries during the gun battle and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The area, which is on the outskirts of Gusau town, has been attacked by suspected terrorists three times in the last Smonth. Nine people have so far been kidnapped.

The state police command under CP Ayuba Elkana, visited the area last week, promising to send security personnel to the area, but that is yet to be done.
