Super Falcons Retain Africa’s Top Spot, Hold 36th Position in Latest FIFA Women’s Rankings

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have maintained their position as Africa’s highest-ranked women’s national team, remaining 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

The nine-time African champions retained their place despite no movement in the global standings, continuing their dominance on the continent under head coach Justine Madugu.

The Super Falcons recently recorded two impressive victories over Senegal in international friendly matches. In the first encounter, Nigeria secured a 2-1 win with goals from Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne.

They followed up with an emphatic 3-0 triumph in the second fixture, as Joy Omewa scored a brace while Oshoala added another goal to seal a convincing victory.

In Africa, Nigeria remains firmly at the summit of the rankings, ahead of South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, and Zambia, who complete the continent’s top five teams.

FIFA is expected to release its next Women’s World Rankings on October 20, 2026.
