Super Falcons Defender Ashleigh Plumptre undergoes successful surgery

Ashleigh Plumptre has successfully undergone surgery on a foot injury, her club Al-Ittihad Ladies have confirmed.

The Super Falcons defender is expected to be sidelined for a few months as she recovers.

This marks the second time the former Leicester City Women player will be out injured since joining Al-Ittihad.

The 31-year-old previously suffered a serious injury in March 2024 shortly after a strong start to her debut season, during which she scored eight goals in 12 appearances. She was sidelined for around six months.

Plumptre also missed the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris due to fitness concerns.

She will now be aiming to regain full fitness ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for July 2026.
