Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has alleged that he and members of his family have endured years of persecution by successive Nigerian governments, including the current administration.
In a statement posted on his official page on Sunday, July 13, 2026, Sowore claimed that the alleged persecution included his expulsion from the University of Lagos, the seizure of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, and the repeated confiscation of his international passport.
He further alleged that court orders and security agencies were used to prevent him from travelling, resulting in prolonged separation from his family.
Sowore also claimed that he had been imprisoned, prosecuted, assaulted, and subjected to continuous harassment over the years. He alleged that members of his family and close associates had also suffered, including the killing of his brother.
Despite the alleged actions against him, Sowore maintained that his resolve remains unshaken, insisting that the persecution has failed to silence or discourage him.
