Soldiers have reportedly invaded the Enugu camp of unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the eastern security network at Amagunze, Nkanu East LGA of Enugu state

During the raid, they smashed a gang of gunmen who have been terrorising Enugu metropolis and its environs in recent weeks .

Ugamatv reports that they had been a new wave of attack which started after three Hilux Vans attacked Super Market in the Onu Asata area, has caused tension and fear.

During the Asata robbery attack, the gunmen who operated with three Hilux Vans ended up carting away bags of rice, Carson’s of noodles and gas cylinders among others.

Since then Enugu has not known peace as two prominent persons have been assassinated while a police checkpoint was recently attacked and some police men killed.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen were traced to their hideout in Amagunze, Nkanu East LGA were they confronted the hoodlums.

Items recovered from the camp included some food items, generators, Gas cylinders, Gun and ammunitions and operational vehicles.
