The Sokoto State Government has restated its commitment to achieving lasting peace and security across the state, expressing readiness to engage in dialogue with any armed group willing to renounce violence and reintegrate into society.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, retired Colonel Ahmed Usman, who emphasized that peaceful resolution and reconciliation are key components in addressing the region’s security challenges.
“Throughout history, most conflicts have not been resolved by force alone. This is why the Sokoto State Government is keeping its doors open to any bandits ready to lay down their arms and embrace peace,” the statement read.
The government further expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the country’s security chiefs, as well as military and police personnel who continue to risk their lives to protect communities in the region.
“We thank them for their dedication. May Allah grant mercy to those who died in the line of duty and give their families the strength to endure the loss,” it added.
