Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima will join other West African leaders, policymakers and business executives at the summit, scheduled to hold on Sunday at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Freetown.

The meeting is expected to focus on major policy decisions and strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening peace, democracy, economic growth and regional integration across the ECOWAS sub-region.

The summit is part of the regional bloc’s mid-year statutory meetings, which bring together heads of state, ministers, senior government officials and regional institutions to advance priorities in security, democratic governance, trade, infrastructure, economic integration and sustainable development.

Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his official engagements in Sierra Leone.
