A young Nigerian lady studying medicine in Canada has tragically lost her life after being struck by a truck while waiting for a bus in Regina.
The 19-year-old, identified as Marvellous Ugochukwu, had dreams of becoming a surgeon and was described by those who knew her as cheerful and kind-hearted.
The incident occurred at Dewdney Avenue near Elphinstone Street in Regina.
Marvellous was reportedly waiting for a bus when a truck collided with the bus stop structure, leading to her untimely death.
Marvellous’ elder sister, Miracle Ugochukwu, shared the harrowing experience of discovering her sister’s fate.
Concerned, Miracle went to look for her and was shown Marvellous’ passport at the scene, confirming that she had died.
Miracle tearfully recounted, “She was going to work that Sunday, and she was happy going to work when it happened.”
Marvellous had been a student at the University of Regina but had taken a break from her studies due to financial challenges.
In the meantime, she worked at a local restaurant and was determined to return to school to pursue her dream of becoming a surgeon.
News of Marvellous’ death spread quickly on social media, with friends, colleagues, and Nigerians in Canada expressing shock and sadness.
