Seven-Time Champions Egypt Feel Snubbed Ahead of Nigeria Clash

Egypt head coach, Hossam Hassan, has claimed that other African teams are jealous of them, because they already have seven AFCON titles.

Hassan was speaking ahead of their third-place playoff game against Nigeria this weekend.

Sadio Mane netted a late winner, that saw Senegal beat the Pharoahs 1-0 in the first semi-final clash.

Hassan has now called out what he believes is unfair treatment towards his team.

He also questioned the AFCON fixture scheduling, insisting that it was unfair to Egypt.

“Egypt does not need excuses and apologies,” Hassan said.

“We just needed fairness like [Senegal]. We played the day after the Senegal match, who are playing in the semi on the same field, and I’m surprised by that.

“Egypt is great, the mother of the Arabs and the mother of Africa in terms of history and titles, and everyone is jealous.”
