Senate Approves ₦68 Trillion 2026 Budget, Adds ₦9 Trillion to Proposal

The Senate has approved a ₦68 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year, raising the initial proposal by ₦9 trillion from the earlier ₦58 trillion estimate.

A breakdown of the approved budget shows that ₦4.79 trillion is allocated for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, and ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent (non-debt) expenditure.

Additionally, ₦32.28 trillion has been earmarked for the development fund, which will be used to finance capital projects for the year ending December 31, 2026.
