Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has dismissed claims that he instructed his supporters in Kwara State to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during a meeting with PDP stakeholders from the 16 local government areas of Kwara State at his Ilorin residence, Saraki reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP and expressed optimism about the ongoing efforts to reposition the party.
Addressing the gathering, Saraki described the meeting as a family forum aimed at clarifying recent political developments.
“I’m here as a democrat, responding to the call of my people who asked for clarity on certain issues within the party,” he said. “You’ve all been following the happenings at the national level of the PDP and naturally want to understand what’s going on. It’s my responsibility to come down and explain things to you.”
He reiterated his loyalty to the PDP, stating, “We are staying in the PDP because we believe the current efforts to reposition the party will bring positive results. Our commitment to the party remains firm.”
Addressing rumors linking him to the ADC, Saraki added, “There have been insinuations and misinformation about what I know or don’t know. That’s why I felt it was important for you to hear directly from me. I want to be clear — I never directed anyone to join the ADC in this state.”
Saraki’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and internal debates within the PDP, as leaders and stakeholders continue efforts to unify and strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
