A Magistrate Court sitting in Rano, Kano State, has remanded one Kabir Mu’azu Gwarzo in a correctional facility over the alleged m8rder of his wife, Maryam Isa, for ritual purposes.
The defendant was re-arraigned before the court by the Kano State Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, on a charge of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
During the proceedings, the prosecution told the court that the alleged offence was committed in Gwarzo village, where the accused allegedly k!lled his wife and removed parts of her body.
The state counsel presented three witnesses — Abubakar Alkasim, Shehu Hasan and Yau Kabir — who testified in support of the charge.
Presiding judge, Justice Halima Nasir, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre pending further hearing.
The case was adjourned until June 19 for continuation of proceedings.
