Sallah: Emir Sanusi Cancels Durbar Activities Over Security Concerns

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has announced the cancellation of all planned Sallah Durbar celebrations by the Kano Emirate, citing security concerns.

Speaking at the Kofar Kudu Palace, the Emir revealed that the decision followed extensive consultations with the Kano State Government, which presented credible intelligence suggesting that his movements could be exploited to incite unrest.

“Following a series of consultations and advice, the Emirate Council has resolved to cancel this year’s Sallah Durbar activities,” Sanusi stated.

He further directed all district, ward, and village heads within the emirate to remain in their respective domains and refrain from participating in any durbar processions to prevent potential disturbances.

This announcement comes just days after joint security agencies in Kano reaffirmed that the ban on Sallah durbar activities remains in effect across the state.
