Royal Endorsement: Isi-Uzo Monarchs Applaud Gov Mbah and LG Chairman Obeagu Over Renewed Security, Development Strides

The Isi-Uzo Traditional Rulers Council has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his decisive and proactive interventions in addressing security challenges and driving infrastructural development across the local government area.

During a solidarity visit to the Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, at the Council Secretariat in Ikem, the royal fathers, led by their Chairman, His Royal Highness Engr. Okey Ogbodo, praised both Governor Mbah and Chairman Obeagu for their commitment to restoring peace, boosting local security, and revitalizing economic activity, especially in rural farm settlements previously plagued by insecurity.

The traditional rulers condemned the recent attack on parts of Eha-Amufu that claimed lives, noting that it stood in stark contrast to the positive strides made in security and infrastructure. They emphasized that the present administration has demonstrated a clear resolve to secure lives and livelihoods in Isi-Uzo through practical measures and significant investment.

“We are here in solidarity, to thank you and show support for your tireless efforts in safeguarding our people,” said Igwe Ogbodo. “We remember the dark days of 2022 when IDP camps dotted our landscape. Today, thanks to the leadership of our governor and your frontline involvement, the situation is far better.”

Other royal fathers echoed the sentiment. Igwe Pius Nnamani acknowledged the Chairman’s personal commitment to leading security patrols into affected farm settlements, despite limited resources. “We see your sacrifices, and we see the governor’s vision being translated into action through your office,” he said.

Governor Mbah was lauded for numerous strategic interventions, including the deployment of joint security teams, the completion of critical access roads such as the 21.7km Agu-Mgbuji-Ogbete road, and the commencement of new routes connecting Ikpakpara-Aguamede and Ikem-Nkwo. The ongoing construction of an 11.5km Aguamede road and efforts to restore telecommunications in the area were also acknowledged as part of a broader plan to secure and develop the region.

In response, Chairman Obiora Obeagu expressed gratitude to the royal fathers for their visit, describing it as both encouraging and symbolic of unity. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to partner with Governor Mbah in ensuring security and sustainable development across Isi-Uzo.

“The governor has been unrelenting in addressing our security challenges, not just through deployment of personnel, but by investing in infrastructure and agriculture to address the root causes of insecurity,” Obeagu said. “We are making progress, and with continued collaboration, we will overcome every threat.”

He cited sabotage by insiders, poor road networks, and lack of telecommunications infrastructure as some of the barriers to timely security response. However, he reassured the traditional rulers that these challenges are being systematically addressed with the governor’s full support.

The visit concluded with a renewed call for unity and collaboration among stakeholders, as the traditional institution pledged continued support for the Mbah-led administration and the Council Chairman in their collective quest to secure and transform Isi-Uzo.
