Rival Factions Emerge in Ogun ADC Leadership Battle

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has been hit by leadership turbulence following the conduct of two parallel state congresses on Saturday.

UGAMATV reported that the concurrent congresses held at different locations, produced Emmanuel Famojuro and Femi Soluade as the new chairman with Olumide Onabajo as the State Publicity Secretary for both factions.

In a swift reaction to the development, Onabajo, in a press statement made available to UGAMATV on Sunday, clarified his position amid the brewing factional crisis.

Onabajo expressed his gratitude to both sides for recognizing his contributions to the party’s visibility across the state, but lamented that despite his tireless work and personal sacrifices in the Ajuwon/Akute area of Ifo Local Government, some key stakeholders failed to offer him the necessary support.

Following what he described as “careful reflection and consultations,” Onabajo declared his decision to align with the faction led by Mr. Emmanuel Famojuro.

He noted that the move was necessary to ensure he could continue contributing to the stability and growth of the party under a leadership he feels more aligned with.

Onabajo said, “At this critical juncture, it has become necessary for me to clearly state my position.

“I have worked tirelessly for the party, particularly during my time in Ajuwon/Akute, Ifo Local Government.

“Despite my sacrifices, it is evident that key stakeholders, including Hon. Ojerinde Olusola and Comrade Salau, have not demonstrated support or consideration for my efforts. This observation also extends to the Otunba Femi Soluade led team.

“While I will refrain from going into extensive details, I remain confident that my commitment, sacrifices, and personal investments in the party are known to God and to those who have followed my journey.

“After careful reflection, consultations, and consideration of prevailing circumstances, I have made the decision to align with the team led by Mr. Emmanuel Famojuro.

“This decision is borne out of conviction and the desire to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth and stability of our party.

“I wish all parties involved the very best as we continue to work towards strengthening our democratic ideals.”
