It is a New Dawn indeed for the people of South East, Nigeria as the long awaited Enugu International Airport is set to be reopened on Sunday, 30th August 2020 after undergoing major critical Safety and Standardization upgrade. This new development will surely rekindle economic activities in the entire South East region and the nation at large.

In this regard, the strategic leadership roles played by His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi towards the actualization of the New International Airport is remarkable and commendable both in posterity and in the meantime.

Since the closure of the Enugu Airport by the Federal Government in August 2019, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi relentlessly followed up with the entire process of rehabilitation, reconstruction and provision of all the required Safety and Standardization demands of the Federal Aviation Authority.

As always, the workaholic and Nationalistic Governor of Enugu State personally ensured that the dangerous obstructions to Aviation Safety caused by the wrongly located Orie Emene Market was rectified in the interest of the region and the nation. Considering the inconveniences occationed by the relocation of the Orie Emene Market, the Governor provided a new site with incentives for the Orie Emene Traders and it is note worthy to see the Traders already settled in the new site along Proda Junction , Emene Enugu.

Like a General Overseer, His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have provided motorable access Road to the Airport and at the same time accorded the Federal Aviation Ministry, House of Representatives Committee on Aviation and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN , warm receptions and all the needed local assistance in tandem with his Nationalistic Tendencies.

It is a known fact that the Akanu Ibiam International Airport , Enugu is the gateway to the South East. The Airport is serving Enugu, the capital city of Enugu State of Nigeria, and nearby cities, such as Abakaliki, Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Afikpo, Okigwe, Nsukka, Ugep, Orlu, Idah, Otukpo and Ogoja.

As the New Dawn unfolds, hospitality industry, Transporters and other economic activities are now revived in Enugu State.
