QUICK INTERVENTION: ENUGU REP DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, OKECHUKWU MOVES MOTION FOR INVESTIGATION INTO KILLING OF CHINENYE OPAH

In response to the letter addressed to the house of assembly by the Uncle of the late Chinenye Opah killed in Enugu state by DSS officials, the Deputy minority leader and Member representing Awgu, Aninri and Ojo-river federal constituency have moved a motion for the house to investigate the killing of the young baker.

Stating his motion, he said “This petition is in regard to a constituent of mine, miss Opah whose elder brother has written to the house. Miss Opah while plying her trade about a week ago was attacked by suspected security agents. This happened at coal camp in Enugu and incidentally there was a stampede and she was shot with two bullets.

Embittered about the rejection by hospitals, he said that “Unfortunately, they went to up to 3 different hospitals and none of them were able to pay attention because it was a gunshot wound. They picked the pallets of the bullets, but unfortunately Chinenye is dead.

“Her brother has written to this house as a parliament that deals with the welfare of Nigerians and has the capacity by our constitution the deal with matters of this nature to come to the aid of the family by investigating why this should happen to a citizen”, the lawmaker stated.
