Police confirm abduction of medical doctor in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a medical doctor and his brother in Edo State.

 

 

 

The victims were identified as Abu Ibrahim Babatunde and Abu Tahir. They were reportedly kidnapped in front of their residence at Ibira Camp, Auchi, while attempting to open their gate. Dr Abu Ibrahim Babatunde recently completed his housemanship at the Edo State Teaching Hospital in Auchi.

 

 

 

 

Confirming the incident, the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the case was reported at about 8:30pm. She stated that officers from the Auchi Divisional Headquarters were immediately deployed to the area.

 

 

 

According to her, the police are working in collaboration with local vigilantes, forest guards, and Community Safety Partnership Volunteers who are familiar with the surrounding forest terrain.

 

 

 

 

She added that aggressive search and rescue operations are currently ongoing within the forest and surrounding areas.

 

 

 

The police assured the family of the victims and members of the public that all efforts are being made to ensure the safe rescue

of the abducted men.
