Police arrest 36-year-old woman and accomplice for alleged gunrunning in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Ekene Chroma and her accomplice, Okafor Jonathan, for alleged gunrunning

 

 

SP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, June 16, 2025, said the suspects were arrested during a sting operation at Okpanam area of Asaba.

 

 

 

Edafe said two English Single Barrell and 110 live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.

 

 

“Operatives of the CP Special assignment team at about 1600hrs of 13/6/2025 embarked on a sting operation in a sting operation at Okpanam Area of Asaba and effected the arrest of one Ekene Chroma, f’ 36yrs a native of Issele-Uku in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, and one Okafor Jonathan m’ 18yrs a native of Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, both resident at Okpanam,” the statement read.

 

“Upon search, two(2) English Single Barrell and one hundred and ten ( 110) live cartridges were recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were suspected of being involved in the business of gun running.

 

“Suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.

 

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, extends his deepest appreciation to members of the public who have been assisting the Police by way of providing this useful information that operatives of the command work with to record these numerous achievements.

 

“The CP stated that it would not have been made possible without the support from members of the Public, and he calls for other well-meaning residents in the state to join the police in this fight to achieve a safer Delta State.”
