Plateau community fingers Fulani as three killed in fresh attack

GUNMEN struck again on Monday and killed three persons in a fresh attack in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that three other persons, who sustained injuries during the attack, which occurred in Hukke village, Miango district of the council area had been rushed to the hospital.

The Public Relations Officer for Miango Youths Development Association, Nuhu Bitrus, confirmed the killings  in Jos on Monday

He accused Fulani herdsmen of being responsible for the attacks.

According to him, the gunmen arrived in the village around 3 pm on Sunday and killed the victims after operating for about five hours before the intervention of the security men, who were alerted on the attacks.

Bitrus said, “It was yesterday (Sunday), Fulani herdsmen attacked Hukke village of Miango District, Rigwe chiefdom in broad day light. The attack started from 3 pm and lasted for about five hours.

“The security personnel came to the scene after a while and tried their best to contain the situation but before their arrival, the Fulani gunmen had killed three persons and injured three others.”

The youth leader, who condemned the attack, gave the names of those killed as Barry Ive, 4; Isaiah Gado, 45; and Weyi Chohu, 40; while those who sustained injuries were identified as Bosco Gbere, Barnabas Lundi and Moses Bombo.

The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Ubah Ogaba, when contacted, said security operatives had been deployed in the affected community, adding, “The area is now calm and investigation has commenced immediately to unravel those behind the act.”
