Award-winning singer Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr. P, has reacted strongly after a social media user made offensive remarks about his late mother, Josephine Okoye.
The controversy began when the user took to X (formerly Twitter) to allege that Mrs. Okoye had opposed her son’s marriage because of tribal differences. The post also included derogatory comments directed at the deceased.
Responding publicly, Mr. P condemned the remarks, describing them as hurtful and completely unacceptable. He warned the individual to delete the post and issue an apology immediately or face possible legal consequences.
He stated that such behaviour on social media must be addressed, stressing that personal attacks—especially against the deceased—should not be tolerated.
Mrs. Okoye passed away on July 11, 2012, at the age of 62 in an Indian hospital after undergoing heart surgery.
