Peter Obi Urges Supporters to Back ADC Candidates in Saturday’s Bye-Elections

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has called on his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Obi, in a statement posted on his official X handle on Thursday, explained that the Labour Party currently has no recognised candidates for the polls due to its unresolved internal crisis and the absence of nominations validated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“In the 16 states of the federation, Nigerians will go to the polling units again for the bye-elections, with two senatorial, five House of Representatives, and nine state assembly seats available for voting,” Obi stated.

“Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis, I humbly urge every member of the Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states,” he added.

The bye-elections will be conducted across various constituencies in 16 states, filling vacant legislative seats at the federal and state levels.
