2027 presidential hopeful and Labour Party stalwart, Peter Obi, says the northern region of Nigeria will rejoice at his leadership if elected president.
Speaking during a Channels TV interview on Sunday, Obi, also a key figure in the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), emphasized the untapped potential of the North, which he described as Nigeria’s greatest asset.
“The biggest asset of this country is in the North, the uncultivated lands, the population, and potential,” Obi stated.
“Sadly, this potential has been held back by insecurity. If I become president, I will deal with that criminality, and the North will celebrate me.”
Obi also criticized past voting patterns, saying Nigerians often choose leaders based on tribe, religion, and sentiment, rather than competence.
“We’ve voted for incompetence for too long. It’s time to vote for someone with ideas and capacity,” he added.
