PDP Woes Deepen as Ex-Rep Eta Mbora Defects to ADC

Former House of Representatives member, Eta Mbora, has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), adding to the growing number of ex-federal lawmakers aligning with the party.

Mbora, who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency during the 9th Assembly, announced his defection on Thursday in Calabar.

He attributed his decision to the lingering internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noting that the situation has continued to weaken the party’s structure.

He admitted that leaving the PDP was not an easy decision but said it had become necessary due to recent developments.

“I remain grateful to the PDP for the opportunities it afforded me to serve at the local government, state, and national levels,” he stated.

Mbora also thanked his supporters and associates for their steadfast loyalty over the years and urged them to join him in the ADC, particularly by participating in the party’s ongoing registration and revalidation exercise in their respective wards.

His defection is part of a broader wave of political realignments in Cross River State ahead of the next election cycle.

The trend follows recent moves by former governor Liyel Imoke and former senator Gershom Bassey, who have also switched to the ADC.

Meanwhile, plans are underway by the party to host a reception rally in honour of Mbora and other new entrants.
