Parents of abducted Edo pupils worry over kidnappers’ silence

The parents of the abducted pupils of Glory Land Group of Schools in Igarra, in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, have yet to be contacted by the hoodlums who took the children.

The father of the abducted two girls, Mr Kola Momodu, who disclosed this in Auchi on Thursday, expressed worry over the safety of his children.

He said, “I am worried about the safety of my children. It has been very difficult since they were abducted. I am appealing for their safe release.

“We have not been contacted since they were abducted. We can only wait for the kidnappers to contact us, but it has been difficult not having them (the children) around.”

Recall that the pupils were kidnapped on Tuesday around 5.35pm on the Igarra-Auchi Road, near Ikpeshi, Akoko Edo.

The vehicle in which the pupils were travelling with some students was intercepted at gunpoint as the abductors dragged them from the vehicle into the bush.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Kontongs Bello, who confirmed the incident, had said police operatives, soldiers and vigilantes were already combing the bush in an effort to rescue the kids.
