Osun FRSC begins clampdown on unregistered PLATES number

Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has lamented increase in the vehicles, using invalid and unregistered number plates, as well as, continuous use of old government number plates by private vehicle owners, saying the command would clampdown on those involved beginning from Monday.

A statement by Agnes Ogungbemi, the Public Education Officer of Osun Command, said the illegal act had untoward implication on the country’s national security.

 
The command further noted that the invalid and unregistered number plates, said to be usually green in color, were never authorized or registered by the FRSC.

The statement further read in parts, “Despite the fact that only Federal and state Government vehicles number plates are produced in green colour and have the name of the Ministry or Parastata inscribed according to the National Road Traffic Regulation (NRTR). 2012. 

“Some People produce such fake number plates in green color to appear as if they are for Government vehicles with the intention of evading Security checks and other possible privileges. Aside the use of invalid and unregistered number plates,some private vehicle owners also use old government number plates for the same reason of evading security checks on the highway.

“In view of the above, the Sector Commander, CC Paul J Okpe in line with the directive of RSHQ said enforcement of the aforementioned trafiic violations will start on Monday 30/8/2021 for one(1) week in the first instance in the state.”
