One killed, three injured as bus, tricycle collide in Bauchi

One person has been killed in a fatal crash at Bayara village along the Bauchi-Dass Road in Bauchi State.

The Bauchi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Sunday, adding that three other people sustained varying degrees of injury.

He said the crash, which occurred around 11am on Sunday, involved a vehicle and a tricycle and was caused by speed violation.

Abdullahi noted that the vehicle, a Volkswagen Sharon commercial bus, with the number plate, TRR 851 UJ, was driven by one Shamsudeen Lawal, while the tricycle was ridden by one Suleiman Muhammad.

He said, “There were 13 people involved in the crash — nine male adults and four female adults.

“Our men rushed the victims to the state specialist hospital for treatment, where a medical doctor confirmed one person, a female adult, dead. Three male adults sustained various degrees of injury. The crash was caused by speed violation.”

He said the obstructions on the road had been cleared to allow for free flow of traffic.
